So the late entries continue to roll in to the Hydro Derby’s various global HQ’s… with the latest and greatest coming to us from the leafy northern suburbs of Sydney. Delivered with a stunning backhand lob by a strapping young lad in tennis whites the hand written letter of intent was presented on bone white stationary bearing the waxen seal from the House of Burden.
Wrapped up in this Tiffany’s blue bow of Stepford Wivery was a team of formidable skill and deadly intent. Don’t let the apple pies and hairdressers Mercedes fool you… these Derby’ists are out for blood.
Again we see a strong ‘super’ team of six taking to the Hydro Arena… presenting the opportunity for some interesting strategic dynamics between these larger teams and the more nimble teams of three, a real Hydro David and Goliath scenario will play itself out on the 8th January.
Representing all that is class, breeding and deportment the Stepfords roster reads like a who’s who of the good eggs gone bad… featuring the prodigious talents of:
- Drew ‘long rod small catch‘ Burden (c)
- Lara ‘the only thing that smells like fish is fish’ Tucker
- Lachlan ‘blue swimmer (itchy) crab‘ Bonsor
- Kirsty ‘salt and pepper calamari lips‘ Laird (vc)
- Matt ‘crouching trout, hidden squid‘ Hawkins
- Sophie ‘Starfish‘ Moll
This bring the total number of team entries for the 2011 2nd Annual Pittwater Hydro Derby Summer Invitational to seven… with more than thirty individual competitors now taking to the Hydro Arena on January 8th. The Board of Competition Stewards are aware of a further half dozen potential teams currently aligning their campaigns… and can only impress upon the stragglers the urgency in registering soon to avoid disappointment!
